Reports

ProfiCAD offers two types of reports:

Ad-hoc Reports

These open from the Outputs menu and are great for filling in symbol and connection details on the fly -- you can see both the drawing and the report at the same time. The object you're editing (symbol or connection) gets highlighted in the drawing.

Embedded Reports

buttons of panel Pages

Add these to your project using button (8) in the Pages panel. They become a permanent part of the project and are printed whenever you print the project.

You can embed the same report multiple times. For example, add a bill of materials once in the normal view and again grouped by symbol type.

Once confirmed, the report becomes a new page of the drawing.

Reports can have different page formats and orientations than your drawing pages.

How to set the page format for reports:

F12 - Document - Reports

How to set the page orientation for reports:

In the Pages panel, double-click the page to open a dialog where you can select the Page Orientation tab.

Columns

To manage columns, right-click the table header. A menu appears with options to:

columns menu
  • add or delete a column
  • move a column left or right
  • set column alignment
  • assign a variable to a column

Each column is tied to a variable. You can change this via the Column settings menu item.

Every report has several predefined variables. Some reports (bill of materials, list of wires) also let you add columns with custom variables. These custom variables become attributes of the corresponding symbols or wires.
