Working with Documents

Your electrical diagrams are saved as .sxe files. The File menu holds all the commands you need to manage them — many are also available as toolbar buttons.

New

Create a fresh, empty document.

Open

Open an existing document from your hard drive.

Close

Close the active document. If you have unsaved changes, you'll be prompted to save them first.

Save

Save the active document. ⚠️ Save often to avoid losing work.

Save As...

Save the active document under a new name, creating a separate copy.

Print

Print the active document.

Print Preview

See exactly how your drawing will look on paper before printing.

Printer Settings

Configure printer parameters — paper size, feeder type, print quality, and more.

Send...

Email the active document directly. This requires an installed email client (e.g., Microsoft Outlook).

Export...

Export your drawing to other formats. See the Export guide for details.

Bill of Materials...

Generate a list of all symbols used in your diagram, organized into groups. You can export it as a Tab Separated Values (TSV) file for use in spreadsheets like MS Excel, or insert it directly into the drawing. See the Bill of Materials guide for more.

Netlist...

View the netlist — a summary of wires and symbol outlets. Export it as a TSV file or insert it into the drawing. See the Netlist guide for details.
